Chance Mullen Named Housing Action Council Executive Director

Welcome Home Westchester congratulates Chance Mullen on his new role as executive director of the Tarrytown-based Housing Action Council, one of the campaign’s founding organizations.

“I’m proud to join Housing Action Council and continue partnering with Welcome Home Westchester to push for the kind of inclusive, thoughtful development our region needs,” Mullen stated. “Housing growth takes collaboration — and together, we can help ensure every resident has a fair chance to call this place home.”

As Housing Action Council’s executive director, he will lead the organization’s work to support the development and preservation of affordable housing across Westchester and the lower Hudson Valley, while expanding its capacity to meet the region’s evolving needs.

Mullen also currently serves as mayor of the Village of Pelham, where he has driven housing growth, downtown revitalization and infrastructure investments as part of a multi-year public-private partnership. Under his leadership, the Village is on track to expand its housing stock by more than 8 percent — thanks to community-focused planning that is resulting in new housing at a range of price points and sizes in Pelham.

“The housing crisis in our region isn’t abstract — it’s playing out in the lives of working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and young people who can’t afford to live where they grew up,” said Mullen. “Our low- and middle-income neighbors are feeling the pain most acutely. The Housing Action Council has long been a champion for everyday people, and I’m proud to carry that mission forward.”

Mullen also serves as vice president of the Westchester Municipal Official Association and chair of its housing subcommittee and is a member of the New York Conference of Mayors.
