(August 10, 2026) Welcome Home Westchester (WHW), a multistakeholder advocacy effort working to drive a new public conversation around fixing the County’s housing shortage, is pleased to announce two new members of its Policy Advisory Committee – Open New York and Sustainable Westchester.
WHW’s Policy Advisory Committee plays a vital role in guiding the Welcome Home Westchester campaign and its partners by bringing together a diverse range of voices and perspectives. The Committee provides strategic recommendations that help shape Welcome Home Westchester’s policy agenda, educational materials, public presentations and advocacy efforts at the local, county and state levels.
Lauren Kroell, Sustainable Westchester’s Senior Program Manager, said, “Sustainable Westchester is thrilled to join Welcome Home Westchester’s Policy Advisory Committee. We collaborate with residents, nonprofit partners, and Westchester municipalities on a daily basis by highlighting resources that can provide housing and utility bill assistance, funding for energy-related improvements, and information to support their project planning needs. There has been a lot of meaningful progress to date in the development of new, affordable, energy-efficient housing in Westchester County – and we believe that this partnership will enhance that growth. We look forward to working together to advance critical, interrelated goals: increasing Westchester’s housing stock while providing our expertise to property owners seeking to integrate energy-efficient, resilient infrastructure into planning and implementation.”
Stasik Winderbaum, Westchester Organizing Coordinator for Open New York, an organization advocating for abundant homes throughout New York State, stated: “Open New York is proud to join Welcome Home Westchester’s Policy Advisory Committee, and excited to work alongside local leaders and community organizations to advance policies that make Westchester a more affordable and thriving place to live.
